RARE Trowbridge Anthro Dogs Cats Boxed Set Linen Novelty Vintage Printed Tablecloth (35 X 34)
Sorry, this item is out of stock
This tablecloth is still in it's original gift box circa 1925. Who knew they made tablecloths like this so early? It was given as a gift to a niece by Mrs (May) Rutherford Trowbridge and contains her card with a hand written note. The Trowbridge family is one of the founding families of New Haven Connecticut and they were great supporters of Yale University. In fact their house is now part of Yale. It has been in my collection since 2013. I bought it from Carolyn Kuchma who was kind enough to note the family's significance. This is your chance to own a piece of American History!
The tablecloth itself is a small linen topper with anthropomorphic dogs and cats. I've never seen the dog one before, although I've had the cat one a couple of times. The napkins actually match the cat tablecloth but have the same blue edging as this dog tablecloth. The tablecloth has parts of the original paper label. The set has several spots that I did not try to remove. I think the dogs are Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.
