Rare NYWF New York Souvenir Tom Lamb Novelty Vintage Printed Tablecloth (51 X 50)
This very rare tablecloth is from Tom Lamb and his Pageant of the States that he designed for the 1939 New York Worlds Fair. There was one tablecloth that had all the States. It is rare. This one is just for New York. It is very rare. I have no idea how many were made, it is the only I have ever seen. It bears his signature. It has three hems and one selvedge. I have no idea why. In collecting, there are tablecloths that are valuable because they are rare. Sometimes they are rare and have historical significance. The 39 Worlds Fairs were a turning point in the history of the world. Tom Lamb was a preeminent designer of his time. It does have one small worn spot in the center as pictured. 2-3 other places that are the beginnings of a worn spot. There are also a couple of barely visible tea stains but I am terrified to wash this tablecloth.
